Children's Hospital Boston - Emergency Entrance

CSI was awarded the contract to install a new nonslip waterproofing coating at the main entrance to the Emergency Department at Children's Hospital, Boston.

This project involved the removal of the existing deteriorated urethane coating, which posed a serious trip hazard; the repair and restoration of the underlying spalled and compromised concrete substrate; and the installation of a new epoxy coating system.

The new system required an aggregate mix of aluminum oxide to create a high density and durable system which provides high levels of traction in all weather conditions.

CSI also repaired the retaining wall of the entrance area and applied a new urethane wall coating to help protect and enhance the visibility of the wall.

This work was completed in a very high traffic area with no interruption to the operations of the Emergency Department and minimal impact on the users of these vital hospital services.
