Air Barriers control air leakage into and out of a building envelope. This allows for more durable and energy efficient buildings as moisture is kept out and unintended air movement is controlled. Air barrier products are manufactured in several forms with a particular system consisting of one or a combination of the following;

• Self adhered membranes, which are typically waterproof and vapor proof
  
  
• Fluid applied membranes

The Air Barrier Association of America (ABBA) was incorporated in Massachusetts with a view to "developing a professional Air barrier specialty trade and industry dedicated to the installation of effective air barrier systems in buildings on a national scale". Contracting Specialists Inc (CSI) is a proud member of ABBA and we participate regularly in seminars and training courses aimed at maintaining the ABBA on site quality assurance program which is based upon the principles outlined in ISO 9000.
